New legal issues have emerged relating to group sales contracts.
Industry innovator, Steve Rudner, will share everything you should know when drafting your new contract to comply with new federal rules regarding junk fees, what impact the recent federal spending cuts have made on enforcing meeting cancellation clauses, issues related to the recent closure of the Austin Convention Center, and more.

Meet Our Speaker, Steve Rudner:

Rudner Law Offices have earned an international reputation in representing hotels and resorts in regard to attrition, cancellation, and other meeting related issues. Steven Rudner is the firm’sFounder and Managing Partner.

For over 30 years, Mr. Rudner’s practice has been dedicated to the representation of hotels and hospitality companies regarding their meetings-related issues. The firm’s clients include some of the world’s largest hotel management companies, many prestigious independent properties, luxury collections, conference centers and others.

When Rudner began this work, it was virtually unheard of that a hotel would pursue a group for damages owed arising from a cancellation or attrition. His work at the forefront of this trend was noted in a 1992 Wall Street Journal article, “Hotels Becoming Inhospitable to Cancellations.” On behalf of their clients, Rudner Law Offices draft contract forms, provide training to hotel sales teams about contract issues, and enforce group sales contracts. Rudner has successfully litigated the industry’s leading appellate cases regarding force majeure issues.

Meetings and Conventions magazine has referred to Rudner as one of the most respected meetings industry attorneys, and Meetings Focus magazine has referred to him as one of the “leading lights of our industry” as well as a top industry innovator. Rudner is a Past-President of the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys (AHIA), and frequently speaks to industry organizations, including MPI, PCMA, HSMAI, RCMA and AH&LA. Rudner was a member of the Convention Industry Council’s APEX Contracts Panel. Rudner’s creative approach to legal issues has made him one of the most popular speakers on issues of concern to the hospitality industry.

For more than 20 years, Rudner Law Offices has conducted a free monthly audio conference for hotel salespeople, which has attracted thousands of participants. Mr. Rudner is a member of the State Bars of New York, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and District of Columbia. Rudner graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1987. He is a member of the Board, Executive Committees and Secretary of Freedom for All Americans as well as the Freedom for All Americans Educational Fund.
